Chapter 111 I Haven't Met Anthony Yet The day was drawing to a close when Penelope found herself still refining the minute details of a design draft. Suddenly, the tranquility of her workspace was shattered by a commotion at the door.

Looking up, she saw Kelvin making his grand entrance, a throng of people surrounding him. Why had he chosen to visit the jewelry department of all places? She thought back to his conversations with Fiona, the subtle hints that suggested he was infatuated with her. The mere thought quickened Penelope's pulse. She had never attempted to entice him, always maintaining a respectful distance. So why was he showing interest now? Was it merely a man's instinct? As Penelope pondered these questions, she returned her gaze to her work."Penelope," Kelvin's voice rang out, breaking her train of thought. When the boss called, she had no choice but to respond. Amidst the knowing glances and hushed whispers of her colleagues, Penelope rose from her seat, "Yes?""Chere," he commanded. What was Kelvin up to? Did he not care about the rumors already circulating? "Mr. Davis, I still have unfinished work," she protested. "It's quitting time. Finish it tomorrow."Before she could respond, he had already turned away, the crowd parting for him as if by instinct. With all eyes on her, Penelope steeled herself and followed him out of the office. Once they were in the car, she couldn't resist asking, "What's this all about, Kelvin?""I'm taking you home," he replied. "I can walk myself home," she retorted.Ignoring her protest, he simply said, "We're going to the Davis family htonight.""Oh..." Penelope responded, "A text message or a word from Assistant Ryan would have sufficed.""Are you afraid ofcoming to your department?" he asked. "Are you unaware of the rumors about us at work?" she countered. "Nope," Kelvin responded with a raised eyebrow."Because no one dares gossip in front of me," he added, leaving Penelope speechless. "Just so you know, there are rumors going around the office. They're saying that you're taking care of me."Kelvin pondered for a few seconds before replying, "Not entirely inaccurate.""What?!" Penelope couldn't hide her surprise."You're dependent onfor food, clothing, and living," Kelvin responded, "So, yeah, in a way, I am taking care of you.""I'm your wife! We're legally married and have a marriage certificate! These rumors started because you've been keeping our marriage a secret," Penelope retorted, her anger flaring. What did they mean by 'keeping'? She was perfectly capable of supporting herself as an independent modern woman! It was Kelvin who clipped her wings, preventing her from soaring, and now he had the audacity to say he's 'keeping' her? The thought was ludicrous!Kelvin watched her silently as her anger bubbled over. After a long pause, he uttered a single word: "Oh "Renelpre.co.id.barely.contain, her fuustration Turning, her, head trazeut the car window, she chose to ignore him. The car pulled into the Davis family home. Grandpa's eyes lit up when he saw Penelope and he asked, "How have you been feeling lately? Take good care of yourself. I'm looking forward to seeing you showing soon!""Everything's great, Grandpa," she replied. "Good, good. If you need anything, you tell me. We can't neglect my great-grandchild, now can we?" Grandpa said, his eyes twinkling with anticipation.Kelvin, however, sat impassively, his ankles crossed. "Kelvin," Grandpa said, turning his attention to him, "you dismissed the staff I arranged at King Manor a few days ago, and we haven't settled that yet.""King Manor isn't short- staffed. There was no need for that, Grandpa," Kelvin retorted. Penelope suddenly understood. No wonder Kelvin managed to move Fiona in, and even after the big fall, Grandpa had been nowhere in sight. He had no idea because the spies had been pulled out."I'm just looking out for you," Grandpa said."Thanks for the concern, Grandpa," Kelvin replied. "You... alright, alright. For the sake of my great-grandchild, I'll let it slide," Grandpa said, turning back to Penelope with a warm smile, inquiring about her well-being. Lily sat nearby, her face twisted in reluctant obligation, occasionally glancing at Penelope's stomach. Seeing Grandpa doting on Penelope, Lily couldn't help but interject, "Alright, old man, the butler at King Manor must be taking good care of Penelope. You don't need to worry. Let's focus on the matter at hand.""What are you talking about? My great-grandchild is the matter at hand. This is the most important thing for the Davis family this year!" Grandpa retorted."I, I didn't mean it that way, old man..." Lily stammered. Today's family banquet was crucial for the future of Lily's son. "I know, I'm not senile yet," Grandpa said leisurely as he stood up, "Kelvin, cto my study."Kelvin kept his seat. He had an inkling and said, "Grandpa wants to talk about my half-brother, doesn't he?""Yes. Your brother is coming back to the States soon, and we need to plan his next moves carefully," Grandpa confirmed. "There can't be two kings in one kingdom, and nobody understands that better than you, Grandpa," Kelvin pointed out."He's still your brother," Grandpa said as he walked towards the study, "Calong, now."Lily, sporting a grin, chimed in, "Kelvin, you better hurry up. I'll stay here and chat with Penelope, don't worry."Kelvin glanced at Penelope, "Stay put.""Where could I possibly go?" she retorted. Once Kelvin and the old man left, Lily's smile quickly faded. "How times change," she muttered disparagingly, "Now in the Davis family, you're the star. I have to play nice with you."Penelope kept her head down, sipping tea, ignoring Lily's remark. She hadn't forgotten how Lily had forcibly taken her for a paternity test at the clinic. Thankfully, Monica managed to steal the test tube and sabotage the results. Lily surely hadn't gotten the proof she wanted.

Oddly enough, there was no reaction from Lily's end. No furious confrontation about the failed test, no insinuating that Penelope had tampered with it... nor any gloating announcements discrediting the paternity of Penelope's child. What was going on? Had Lily suddenly lost her tongue?Seeing Penelope unfazed, Lily grew irritated, "Hah, you think you Hah can look down onnow? Just you wait until my son comes back. Things in the Davis family are going to change!"Mentioning Anthony stirred something in Penelope.

Nathan was closing in on him! Penelope smiled subtly, intentionally bringing up the topic, "Speaking of which, I have yet to meet Anthony.""My son's very handsome, even more so than Kelvin!" Lily boasted confidently, "He's a true Davis by blood, and he will have his share of the Davis stocks, the Davis fortune.""Yes, he's the rock you've built your position on within the Davis family. When is Anthony coming back? I'd like to see for myself," Penelope asked. "Very soon. When he returns, he's going to enter the Davis fold and vie with Kelvin... After all, he is part of the Davis family, and Kelvin can't sideline him forever!" Lily responded with assurance.Penelope nodded, "Yeah, I'm really looking forward to Anthony coming back home."
