Chapter 113 An Unexpected Confession by Kelvin Kelvin towered over her, a looming presence that filled her with a sense of imminent danger. Trapped between the seat and his powerful chest, she found herself breathless under the intensity of his sudden, passionate kiss. She knew that if they continued down this path, things would quickly spiral out of control. After all, Kelvin was a man, driven by primal instincts and desires.Recognizing this, Penelope bit down hard on his lips, a desperate attempt to break free. He bit back, a raw, animalistic response that left both their lips bleeding. His hand began to wander, fingers brushing against the buttons of her shirt as if intending to undo them. "Stop!" she cried out in protest. With her hands pressed against his chest, she pushed him away with all her might. The car was engulfed in darkness, the only sound being Kelvin's heavy, ragged breathing."Kelvin..." she began, her voice shaky, her throat suddenly dry. "What kind of madness is this?""Can't you feel it?" he responded, his breath hot against her skin. His fingers traced a path along her chin as he continued, "Penelope, I'm your husband. I have every right to."Fear gripped her at his words. "But you didn't marryfor love!""So what if I want to touch you? What can you do about it?!" he challenged. "You could go to Fiona!" Penelope retorted, her voice sharp. "She's more than willing to entertain you at any hour!"Kelvin scoffed dismissively, "But you, Penelope, are my wife.""Only now you acknowledgeas your wife? Have you ever truly seenas your partner, treatedas an equal?" she shot back, her voice echoing with resentment. As Kelvin propped himself up on his arms beside her, the tension between them was palpable, even in the darkness. Their eyes met, a silent battle of wills. His were filled with an intense desire, while hers reflected fear, apprehension, and turmoil."So, you hope I don't want you..." Kelvin's voice turned cold. "Penelope, are you keeping yourself for another man?""I am not a woman of easy virtue, nor am I a toy for your pleasure and physical needs!" she retorted defiantly. He scoffed, "Who do you think you are? Penelope, your presence here is atonement!"Biting her lip, she responded, "Not with my body.""Grandpa said," Kelvin reminded her coldly, "that if you bore the Davis family a child, he might consider forgiving your father... Don't you feel even a twinge of temptation?"The thought of freeing her father and returning to a normal life was indeed tempting to Penelope. "I...""Your hesitation means you're willing to use your body as redemption," Kelvin mocked. "Stop pretending to be sparagon of virtue!"His words were a scathing strike on her last shred of dignity."Yes, I want to save my father. I've said before, after this child, I would bear you heirs if you wish..."Kelvin cut her off, his voice authoritative, "I don't care about the future. I want you now!"Kelvin was a man used to getting what he wanted; failure was a foreign concept to him. Yet with Penelope, he had been thwarted tand again. She was the daughter of his adversary - a woman he should hate, torment. Yet why did she feel so different?Stunned, Penelope stared back at him, "Now? You wantnow?"Was this a confession of sorts? His words had an unexpectedly tender edge. But in the next instant, Kelvin was out of the car, the door left ajar, striding away quickly.Sitting up, Penelope quickly straightened her disheveled clothes, her eyes following his retreating figure. A sigh of relief escaped her lips... it had been a close call. Had Kelvin insisted, in the car, she would have been powerless to stop him.Back in the servants' quarters, her lips still tingled numbly. Staring at herself in the mirror, she examined the bite mark on her lip and silently cursed Kelvin again. Was that guy a dog or what? Always biting people! Before bed, Penelope had put on her headphones to listen in on Fiona's goings-on. Fiona's life was a kaleidoscope of shopping sprees and afternoon teas, not a shred of useful information. Overwhelmed by boredom, Penelope had drifted off to sleep with the earbuds still in.Unexpectedly, the next day brought Fiona to The King Manor bright and early. Penelope was jarred awake by the noise in her ears. With a nasal whine, Fiona cooed, "Mr. Davis, you're up already? I was about to cwake you."It took a few seconds for Penelope to cto her senses and remove her headphones. She'd have to dawdle before showing her face. She didn't want to see that woman and chose to keep her distance for the moment. In the master bedroom, Kelvin was getting dressed and frowning at Fiona, "Who let you in?""The butler toldyou were here, so here I am," she said flirtatiously. "Don't you want to see me, Mr. Davis?""Wait forin the living room.""I thought you were still asleep. "Grabbing his suit jacket curtly, Kelvin commanded, "Get out."Instead of leaving, Fiona walked up to the bed to tidy it. "Go freshen up, Mr. Davis. I'll make the bed-Ah!"Her wrist was seized tightly."Get out," Kelvin's voice was dark and brooding, "and don't makesay it a third time!""You're hurting me..." Fiona protested weakly. He released her abruptly. Fiona tried to appeal to his sympathies, "I just wanted to help, why are you being so harsh?""The staff will take care of it, no need for you to lift a finger.""I just want to be a good wife..."Fiona cut herself off, reading the cold warning in Kelvin's eyes, and obediently left without another word. After dressing himself meticulously, Kelvin looked at the disheveled bed. He had a reason for not wanting Fiona to make it. With a swift gesture, he flipped back the covers to reveal a scandalous secret on the sheets. In one quick motion, he ripped them off and threw them to the floor, stepping on them with his polished shoe. The night before... he had dreamt of Penelope, and this had been the result-Kelvin's deepest secret, one he was loath to face himself. This episode set Kelvin's mood sour for the whole morning, his face set in an icy mask. Fiona couldn't fathom what had happened, leaving her feeling snubbed. Even when Kelvin left for the office, they barely exchanged three words. Fuming, Fiona stormed off to the servants' quarters to pick a fight with Penelope and let off ssteam, only to find... Penelope had already slipped away through the back door."That damn Penelope," Fiona stamped her foot in frustration. "Hide today, but let's see if you can avoidtomorrow or the day after. Just you wait!"The butler approached Fiona with a certain haste in his step. "Mrs. Wright, if you don't mind, you're free to leave now.""What? You're kickingout?" Fiona snapped, incredulous at his nerve."We're having a major cleanup over at King Manor," he explained, as if that justified everything, "The gardens need weeding and spraying. You sure you want to stick around for that?"Fiona glared at him, fury lacing her stare. "Fine, I'll go!" she declared and stomped off toward the psychiatric hospital to find her father, the director. "Dad!""Fiona, what's wrong?" her father greeted her with a beaming smile. "I could spot that shiny ring on your hand from a mile away. Letsee that glittering beauty!"
