Chapter144 Preparing for Pregnancy Grandpa was taken aback, surprised at her quick agreement.
With the Davis family's threshold so high and their wealth so vast, she didn't want a single penny.
"What... what are you playing at?" "Not everyone idolizes money and status," Penelope said. "Grandpa, you better persuade Kelvin to agree to the divorce." Lily chimed in, "The way you put it, it sounds like Kelvin is the one who doesn't want to divorce?" Penelope smiled, "You're right." Grandpa and Lily's expressions shifted rapidly.
"Kelvin... you don't want a divorce?" the old man ventured.
Kelvin nodded, "That's right." "Have you lost your mind!" Grandpa exclaimed as he stood up abruptly. "Why wouldn't you want a divorce?" "I only want Penelope," Kelvin stated flatly, the decisiveness in his unwavering gaze leaving no room for negotiation.
Grandpa had watched Kelvin grow up and knew his temperament well; he understood that Kelvin meant business this time.
Even Lily was taken aback, staring at Penelope in disbelief. "Did you cast skind of spell on Kelvin to make him so infatuated with you?" "I don't want to hear about divorce from anyone ever again," Kelvin said with a calm tone as he drew Penelope close by the waist. "Grandpa, please, go back home." Penelope stood by his side, feeling genuinely empowered as the true lady of the household. The man by her side her husband, her lifelong partner, the one who would stand against the world for her had chosen her definitively.
Such deep, profound love.

Kelvin repeated himself as Grandpa remained still. "Grandpa, I'm asking you to leave." "Do you remember who Penelope's father is? Do you recall how Dr. Cooper contributed to your father's death? Her father did wrong by yours, yet you love his daughter so deeply. One of these days... you'll end up dead at her hands, too!" Grandpa stormed out, with Lily hastily following him.
The hospital room fell silent for a tuntil Penelope finally spoke. "Do you really care forthat much?" Her surprise was evident, matched by a sense of unwarranted esteem.
Kelvin adjusted his tie and stood by the window. "Yes, Penelope, you've won." She laughed softly.
"Aren't you pleased?" Kelvin raised an eyebrow. "Thewho once scoffed at you now can't bear to lose you." "But I don't love you." She declared.
Kelvin's lips tightened, his aura suddenly turning icy. "Say that again?" "I don't love you," Penelope enunciated each word with slow deliberation. "Kelvin, I feel nothing but hatred for you. Hatred for destroying my happy hand taking my child..." "Then hateif you must," he replied rudely before slamming the door behind him. Penelope stood motionless for a moment, then collapsed onto the bed, her strength seemingly drained from her. She had a hunch that the marriage was irreversibly entwined; Kelvin would never let her go.
In this lifetime, she was bound to live with him.
Spending her life with the devil-what a terrifying fate! A week later.
The doctor announced that Penelope was ready to be discharged from the hospital. Kelvin cpersonally to pick her up, and taking advice from Timothy and Ryan, he even bought a bouquet.

Timothy had said, "No woman can resist fresh flowers." Ryan advised, "Mr. Davis, all women love to receive gifts." So, Kelvin purchased the most expensive imported roses the flower shop could offer.
He stood at the hospital entrance, leaning against his car door, impeccably dressed, his handsfeatures exuding a cool charm.
Passersby glanced at him discreetly, and young girls took out their phones to sneak pictures, everyone wondering about the woman he was waiting for.
Penelope appeared.
She was bare-faced, with her soft hair cascading over her shoulders, with a petite and slender body. She glanced at Kelvin and then promptly bent down to get into the car. Kelvin was ignored.
And so were the flowers in his hand.
His expression glummed, he silently tossed the bouquet into the nearest trash can.
Keeping the bouquet was only possible if the intended recipient appreciated it! "I need to get back to work," Penelope said. "I've been working on design drafts even while hospitalized." "Are you asking for my permission?" he asked dryly.
"My work also generates value and profit for you. I'm not just your wife. I am also the lead designer for 'Adoring Cupid."" Kelvin, with his legs crossed, responded aloofly, "Do you really think that 'Adoring Cupid' can't function without you?" Penelope was shocked. "What are you implying?" "I can support your career, and I can destroy it. You should understand that."

"Kelvin, what I hate the most is how you effortlessly crush the things I care about!" "I've show@great m e tolerance towards you," he answered calmly. "If I wished, I could ensure that you spend the rest of your life confined to The King Manor." "I'm not your caged bird! I'm not someone to be hidden away and adored in secret!" Penelope stared at him, her protest unmistakable.
She was genuinely afraid that Kelvin would keep her in The King Manor forever, truly making her nothing but his plaything.
When he was in a good mood, he'd cajole and tease her.
When he was not, she had to bear the brunt of his temper and wrath.
This was not the life Penelope wanted to lead.
"I'll let you go back to work," Kelvin said, lifting her chin with his hand, "with one condition." "What is it?" "We start planning for a baby." Penelope's face grew pale.
She had just suffered a miscarriage and lost their child. Now Kelvin was pressuring her to prepare for another anothe pregnancy? What did he take her for? A baby-making machine? "Do you really want a child that badly?" Penelope inquired, irritation tinged her voice. "There's no shortage of women who'd bear your children. Why does it have to be me?" "I only want your child," he stated with an unsettling firmness. Penelope's heart raced rapidly. Sometimes, a man's sweet nothings can truly be enchanting.
"But I don't want to have your child," Penelope stated, locking eyes with him. "You remindof the child I lost every tI see you!" Kelvin replied, "My bad. I'll give you another." "That was a life, Kelvin, not a toy. You can't just say 'giveanother'..." her voice trailed off in frustration.
