Chapter 78 Checking the Child's Genes.
Mrs. Davis was becoming more and more assertive now. Penelope was certain that Kelvin wouldn't come. The president of the Davis Corporation personally visiting a small designer like her? Ha, as if there weren't enough rumors already.
Ryan had no choice but to leave, thinking about how to deliver Mrs. Davis's words to Mr. Davis as tactfully as possible. Once Ryan left, Penelope got up and went to the company entrance to collect her package.
Just as she received the package and turned around, she saw Lily getting out of the nanny car, dressed as an elegant lady. Penelope shielded her face with the package, unwilling to meet Lily.
"Don't hide, I chere specifically to find you today," Lily called out to her.

Lily approached her. "I may be your mother-in-law, after all. I wanted to check on you. I wouldn't want people to say that you're pregnant and I didn't care." Penelope immediately becalert. She couldn't take anything regarding the child lightly.
She shielded her stomach. "I can take care of myself. You don't have to worry." "Don't be like that, I'm the child's grandmother," Lily said with a smile. "I've made an appointment for you at the hospital for a comprehensive prenatal check-up. Let's go now." She reached out to pull Penelope.
Penelope evaded her. "Thank you for your concern, but I won't go. I don't have the time." Who knew what Lily is planning. She definitely couldn't go. Once she reaches the hospital, everything would be arranged by Lily, and then she'd be in danger.
"Hey, Penelope, don't waste my goodwill," Lily's smile vanished instantly. "I'm being kind to you, not harming you." "I just had a check-up, and everything is fine." After saying that, Penelope turned to walked away, but Lily blocked her path.
"Don't think you can easily walk away. I sincerely paid for your check-up; don't you appreciate it? You have to go!" Penelope stopped pretending and sneered, "I'm afraid it's not just a simple check-up, right?" "It's just a check-up. The whole process will be open and transparent!" Lily insisted, "Now that you're recognized by the old man, how could I dare harm you?" Lily just wanted to confirm if the child Penelope was carrying was Kelvin's. She didn't believe that the contraception she used would be ineffective. There was something suspicious about Penelope's pregnancy.
With advanced medical technology nowadays, even the fetus could undergo a paternity test. So, the prenatal check-up was just an excuse. Lily's real intention was to make Penelope go to the hospital for a paternity test. Penelope frowned. Knowing Lily, things were definitely not that simple.
"Con," Lily grabbed her hand, "I've made an appointment with the top obstetrician in the country." Before Penelope could say anything, Lily pulled her into the car. A sense of alarm surged in her heart, "Lily, letgo!" "I will bring you back after the check-up. I promise you and the child will be safe. What are you afraid of?" "I don't trust you!" Lily firmly held her down, "Sit properly. Lettell you, as long as you and the child are fine, even if I have to take you to the hospital forcefully, the Davis family cannot blme." Penelope struggled, "Why are you acting so strange. Haven't you heard of the saying 'no good deed goes unpunished?" "Don't move in the car. Otherwise, I won't have to lay a finger on you, you'll end up aborting the child yourself." At the hospital, Lily accompanied her throughout, following her wherever she went. Penelope couldn't even find a chance to inform Kelvin.
Seeing Penelope had no choice but to cooperate, Lily felt proud, "Be obedient during the check-up, and you'll suffer less. Besides, it's also being responsible for you and the child. Hurry up, next one." There were over ten prenatal examination items, sof which Penelope had never heard of before.
Initially, she was a bit apprehensive, but she realized that the doctor was genuinely conducting a regular check- up, even the blood extraction was done with normal doses. Gradually, her guard was let down.
Regardless of what Lily wanted to do, at least the child was safe.
"The last item, ultrasound." Lily said, "Lie down there, I'll call the doctor." Penelope looked at her, "What is your real intention?" "I just want to see my precious grandson," Lily laughed, "Penelope, tell me, what would happen if this child isn't Kelvin's? Would the old man still favor you?" It instantly dawned on her, "So, you've been trying to check the child's genes." "Yes, all the checks are done. You can leave now. Whether you want to do this ultrasound or not, it's up to you." Lily's tone and expression beceven more triumphant.

If the child turned out to be Kelvin's, she would accept it, and blher own bad luck, but if the child didn't have the Davis family's bloodline... Hehe, then it would be quite a spectacle.
Penelope's face turned pale. What should she do. She didn't even know who the father of the child was! It' definitely wouldn't be Kelvin! Once the results were out and fell into Lily's hands, it would be disastrous. The child would definitely not be safe. "Lily, you despicable person!" Penelope gritted her teeth, "Shameless!"
"Why are you so worked up? Could it be that the child is really not Kelvin's?" Lily asked, "Penelope, M maybe you should admit it yourself. Do you have another man outside?" Penelope turned and walked away. She had fallen into Lily's trap. If only she had found a way to escape. "Go ahead, leave," Lily said with a triumphant attitude, "I will inform you once the results are out. Be mentally prepared." Penelope quickened her pace and forcefully opened the door to the ultrasound room. However, she bumped into a familiar and sturdy embrace.
"Kelvin?" Penelope looked up, exclaiming in surprise.
He had a serious expression, his gaze quickly scanning her, making sure she wasn't hurt. Then, he finally looked at Lily and said, "If anything happens to her, I'll kick you out of the Davis family tonight!"
Lily confidently replied, "I was just giving her a check-up, after all, I am her mother-in-law, it's normal forto care about her. Don't believe me? Ask her yourself." Penelope couldn't express her grievances and could only answer, "I'm fine. Why did you come?" She hadn't sent him a message. How did he know she was missing and cto the hospital? Kelvin's eyebrows furrowed lightly. "During work hours, you should be at your work station, but instead you're wandering around. Can I not find you?"
